We are all dancers. This open level contemporary dance technique class encourages students to fully explore their bodies in space while engaging in the basic principals of dance – the immediacy of action in a constant state of change.

Influenced by her practice as a dancer, choreographer and company director – over the past 25 years, Suzanne Miller has conducted classes, workshops and performance residencies in Canada, the United States, Mexico, Europe, Venezuela and most recently in the Middle East. www.millerpaivio.com

Statement of Teaching Philosophy
My own dance and choreographic practice is firmly rooted in classical ballet technique, and is specifically informed by contemporary traditions stemming from Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham and José Limon. As a teacher however, I place as much emphasis on self-awareness as I do on historical and cultural awareness. I work from a fluid perspective, stressing both creative and personal development, through a disciplined knowledge of dance technique, choreography, repertoire, partnering, performance, collaboration, as well as Yoga and Pilates. By underlining the special importance of preventative and restorative techniques, I try to instill a deep respect for the body and a healthy approach to dance practice.
