This workshop, will look at the integration of video, sound and action into live art works and the use of “collage” techniques. Video projection, sound creation, disguise, props, physical score and the theatrical use of space are all tools that will be employed. 2boys.tv will guide participants, both individually and in groups, at Studio 303 and the OBORO New Media Lab, through a series of creative exercises that will culminate in the construction of their own short transmedia performance.

Based in Montréal, 2boys.tv consists of the transdisciplinary duo Stephen Lawson and Aaron Pollard (also notoriously known in some circles as alter egos Gigi L’Amour and Pipi Douleur). Together they have created and toured, nationally and internationally, a wide repertoire of epic multimedia cabaret works, performances, videos and installations. Their full-length work, ZONA PELLUCIDA, a blend of lip-synch, cinematic scores and original video projections, has toured across Canada, to Buenos Aires, and has been presented for month long runs in San Francisco and Toronto. Individually and collectively their video art works and short cabaret performances have been presented in clubs, galleries, theatres and festivals across North America as well as in Europe. In 2007, 2boys.tv premiered an elaborate installation work for la Biennale de Montréal and the same work was presented again in May 2009 at the international theatre festival TransAmérique. Other activities since 2007 include tours of ZONA PELLUCIDA, creating a performance intervention for the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art and creating a large scale outdoor performance intervention for Toronto’s Nuit Blanche festival. In February 2008, the duo premiered a new performance piece PHOBOPHILIA (first public showing at Studio 303), an intimate, multimedia exploration of “the eroticization of terror and role of the artist/poet in an age characterised by fear”. This performance has since been presented several times in Canada, in South America (Chile, Argentina, Colombia), as well as at the National Review of Live Art in Glasgow, Scotland. www.2boys.tv
