** WORKSHOP CANCELLED **

Listen. I plan on sharing what I’ve got – what’s inside of me. Well. Not all of it. But I’m a professionally trained athlete and we’re going to mix that up with some contemporary dance. We’re going to run, we’re going to jump, we’re going to fall, we may laugh, we’re going to get strong. We’re going to sweat. Together. I may even throw in a joke or two. Workshop will include extensive warm-up, athletic circuit training, and Band of Bless choreographic repertoire. Bring sneakers and knee-pads if you’re knee sensitive!

Dana Michel is a mover. Her training scales tip towards athletics. Before tossing herself into dance at twenty-five, she was competitively involved in track and touch football – pivotal in her constructions. Over the past year alone, she has presented her work in over a dozen festivals and productions (including Mange ta Ville – a program on ARTV (RadioCanada), DanceOff! At PS122 – New York, The Proving Ground – Salt Lake City and The Festival of Choreographic Miniatures – Belgrade, Serbia). A relative newcomer to contemporary dance, Dana has already been recognized for her achievements, winning the the Best Dance Production prize at the 2005 Montreal Fringe Festival, and the Montreal Hour’s “Year in Arts – Best in Dance”. Most recently, she was named “Best Emerging Choreographer of 2006” by the Globe and Mail (Canada). “Michel… is a killer soloist who tackles the warped, frenetic and fierce rhythms of her piece with precision and fiery authority…” (InfiniteBody, 2007). www.myspace.com/danamichel
