Diego Piñón incorporates his 25 years of experience in the fields of Mexican energetic traditions, Japanese Butoh, ritual dance, modern dance and teaching, to guide students on a path using perceptions and imagination to develop a personal and collective dance. Diego offers a basic and sensitive warm-up to prepare the students for deep expression, allowing the body to reach its limits and take risks to reach the space of authenticity, purity and truth, with no expectations.

Since 1987, Diego Piñón has trained in the master techniques of Butoh, a Japanese style of Ritual Dance. Among his teachers are the renowned Butoh masters Natsu Nakajima, Kazuo Ohno, Yoshito Ohno, Min Tanaka, Hisako Horikawa and Mitsuyo Uesugui. Butoh challenges us to empty our ordinary judgements, expectations, and needs, to allow the emergence of a deeper self to touch the human soul. In 2009, his project, Umbilicus, in collaboration with the Guadalajara University in Mexico, premiered as well as Mariposa for 4 women at the Warren Wilson College in North Carolina. Diego will be teaching an intensive workshop this Winter in Tlalpujahua in Mexico. www.diegopinon.com
