Celldance is an intensive creative videodance workshop for dancers and new media artists alike aimed at introducing participants to filming, editing and disseminating danceworks through accessible mobile devices, including cellphones. Led by artists Natacha Clitandre and Aurélie Pedron, this workshop will offer participants the modern tools and skills to document their works, exploring new technological platforms and avenues to reach a worldwide audience. We are currently accepting applications from individuals or teams. Twelve participants, working as six teams of two, will be led through all phases of production of their projects, which will ultimately premiere at the Edgy Women Festival in March 2010. www.studioxx.org

With a bachelor degree in visual arts from the Université de Québec à Montréal (UQAM) and Concordia University, Natacha Clitandre received a research grant at Brown University and RISD (Providence, RI) to do her Masters in Contemporary Art and New Media theory and practice (Université Paris 8). She has also studied graphic design at UQAM. In her artistic practice, she focuses on the screen as a meditative interface between the artist and the public, supported by mobile diffusion systems and other Internet supports. In 2004, she was artist-in-residence at Recyclart (Bussels). Her projects were shown at the public art event Midi (Komplot, Brussels, 2004), Conflux (Glowlab Gallery and Centre for Architecture, New York, 2007 and 2008) and Pocket Films (Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris, 2006 and 2008), among other festivals.

Through her training at the dance department at UQAM, Aurélie Pedron has explored interpretation, creation, videodance and film animation. Outside of her work for the stage, Aurélie is pursuing research focusing on movement for image and video. As a video artist, she works on the deformation of movement through the perspective and re-choreography of the camera. Her work has been circulated throughout Quebec, Canada, the U.S., Asia and Europe.
