Recess by The Blacks (Monstah Black and Manchildblack Black)
The Blacks fuse their combined experience in music, theater, dance, installation, videography, fashion styling, marketing and promotion to create an eclectic album of visuals and sound. Recess immerses the audience into a musical, dance party that tips its hat to the entertaining duo’s of the past, as well as the popular disco, new wave and pop acts that created infectious dance grooves in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. With the use of sound and images of the pop world, The Blacks take the audience on a humourous ride through pop land as a married black male pop duo.
More Ladies by Sasha Kleinplatz
Some eating, some fighting, some dancing.
We Are Weather by Vanessa Anspaugh
We Are Weather is a theatrical dance work that explores the ways we resist and simultaneously desire the dynamics of power and surrender that lie at the heart of intimacy. Through a continual wrestling with the temporal and spatial moment, the piece speaks of our attempts to manipulate and control the present in the face of an unnameable past and an unknowable future.
The Wishing Floor by Jana Jevtovic
How close is the closest touch? What is the minimum distance between two people? And if we reach it, will it hurt? Three performers survive intimacy and loneliness in a world where nothing quite fits, their bodies collapsing, failing, exhausted. As situations shift from the extremely absurd to the painfully real and back again, who will survive the consequences of desire? What is the logic of disgust?
