From Septembre 8th to 12th, SPARK, an artistic urban safari, offers an eclectic multi-venue showcase of artists associated with Studio 303. Both the public and international presenters can discover the surprising universe of Montreal’s emerging scene and live an unforgettable experience through the singular practices of these exceptional artists.

Three survivors attempt to occupy the same abandoned shelter. They must tame each other and adapt to the particular characteristics of their new home. As seasons parade in a disorderly manner, a modern family is formed.

Against the background of our cultures over-emphasis on individualism, HOSPITALITY 3: Individualism was a Mistake invites the spectator to reflect on what it means for individuals to work together.

A table with juice and snacks, another table cluttered with records and musical equipment, and more tables to greet spectators and gather the answers to the questions they are asked.

A pile of records and a record player. For every record we have one story at the ready. For each performance we will play different records in a different order and tell the stories that go with them.

This new creation explores the way music infiltrates our personal and social lives, affecting our ongoing understanding of love, work and how we think society should operate.

Frédérick Gravel takes on the confusion of the contemporary American male, whether he hails from a bland suburb, a country road or a cowboy movie.

It is a tale of distraught men, the ordinary run-of-the-mill North American male: beer, T-shirts, baseball caps, cowboy boots, bare bellies and their hesitations, outbursts of violence, confusion, brusque changes of mood, right left, front and back, lurching in a drunken haze of beer and powerlessness.

Short&Sweet is an innovative dance event which gives 30 choreographers carte blanche to create whatever they want as long as it is under 3 minutes!

A timekeeper is present for the event and any artist going over the allotted timeframe has their music and lights immediately cut off. Featuring a diverse cross section of Montreal’s contemporary dance community.

Presented by Wants&Needs dance.

Two solos, one encounter.
Dana Michel and 2fik are Montreal-based artists, each with a performance practice that explores the complexity of identity/gender issues, which they dissect/observe through their art.

Dana Michel presents an excerpt of 1976 - a supremely personal and with a punk meets athletics meets fashion sensibility dance piece featuring sound design by Antoine Bédard.

In A Semitic Score, 2Fik performs a virtual duet with British art star Oreet Ashery. The piece takes its roots from the notion that both Muslims and Jews come from the same Semitic DNA.

Together, 2Fik and Michel created Ball of Both, an intimate moment between two gender-bended artists.
