MARI OSANAI (JAP) — Noguchi Taiso inspired Butoh workshop

CANCELLED“Mari Osanai transcends superficial physical properties and make an expression the spiritual truth thorough body language.”-Toonippo- Aomori Japan-

Life and death are started by the body. Knowing about the body is very important, especially to us, performers. Noguchi Taiso is a practice that is looking for what is a human being, but also, what is the body for yourself and the feelings of it. How and what my body is feeling, thinking, and accepting now, in this movement? Noguchi Taiso makes your body feel relaxed, soft and sensitive. Every quality of movement (soft, graceful, flexible, powerful, forceful quick, correct, exact, delicate, nice, strong, flow, smooth, sharp…) is created by a relaxed body. You can feel the inside of your body by relaxing. Body works are changes and creations of what the body contents. The outside figure is just appearance after changing the inside. The human being’s body is mainly composed of body liquid (about 70 %). The human being is a living water bag. All movements dynamics are fluid dynamics. Flowing body liquid makes movement. You will use your own weight and gravity to move. Weight will be a motive power for movements. Every movement is made by changing weight and flowing weight.

Mari Osanai was born 1956 and lives in Aomori, Japan. She trained in Classical Ballet, Modern dance, Jazz dance, Aomori traditional folk dance Tsugaru Teodori, Taichi Noguchi, Taiso and studied under Mr. Hironobu Oikawa. Her unique movements and original style are realized through interweaving these diverse techniques. She has taught and performed in Canada, U.S.A, Greece, Germany and Japan.
