CONTENT \/\/ <\/strong>Lo Fi Dance Theory classes are for dancers and movers of all genres and abilities, providing pathways into deeper perception, heightened awareness and expanded movement possibilities. These classes use specific \u201cframeworks\u201d, sequences, and improvisation, allowing students to reimagine the body and uncover new personal pathways to movement. Focusing on the very physical, sensorial and imaginative, LFDT classes allow for the discovering of new challenges and risks within our movement \u2013 of both body and mind. Recommended for anyone wanting to gain a deeper understanding of their own movement preferences, building their unique movement vocabulary, or expand their options for generating choreographic compositions.

\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

ACCESSIBILITY \/\/<\/strong> Instructions are given verbally and the exercises are physically exemplified throughout the course. Each class includes a portion of jumps, floor exercises and sometimes involves spinning and the use of music as a rhythmic suggestion. All exercises are modifiable, at the discretion of the participants. Everyone has the right to reduce the intensity or stop participating in an exercise at any time. No judgement, comments or discriminatory attitudes will be tolerated.<\/p>\n

BIO \/\/<\/strong> Since the start of her career, 13 years ago, as a professional dancer and a choreographer, Lauri-Ann<\/strong> performs with renowned artists and dance groups touring major cities of Quebec and Canada, the United States, Europe, Asia and North Africa. She takes part in musicals such as Saturday Night Fever, televised galas, music videos (Corneille, Marie-Mai, Half Moon Run & more). Now drawn toward movement direction\/conception, she joins the works of Laurence \u00ab Baz \u00bb Morais and Adrian Villagomez to create images for Jean-Michel Blais \u00ab Passepieds \u00bb, \u00ab Le show Blizzard sign\u00e9 Coeur de Pirate \u00bb, \u00ab Love Brand New \u00bb by Bob Moses, to only name a few. Lauri-Ann is now a member of the dance company Lo Fi Dance Theory, founded by Wynn Holmes.<\/p>\n

Nicholas Bellefleur<\/strong> is a queer person located in tiohti\u00e0:ke mooniyaang montr\u00e9al, a movement-based artist, the inertia of the laboratory A SAFER SPACE and the associte director of Lo Fi Dance Theory. Their work investigates the praxis of safe-r spaces, response-ability, decoloniality and healing justice.
\n<\/span>Nicholas graduates from \u00c9cole sup\u00e9rieure de ballet du Qu\u00e9bec in 2014 and joins Emily Molnar\u2019s Ballet BC in Coast Salish Territories Vancouver as an apprentice. H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Blackburn then invites them to join Cas Public for two seasons where they perform more than 100 shows across what we currently call Canada, United States, Mexico and Europe, passing through establishments deemed prestigious by some, such as Paris Opera and Royal Opera House of London. In 2017, Nicholas takes part in the creation of a big scale multidisciplinary show, an MGM Resorts production, which dislocates them in China. There they embody Michael Curry\u2019s puppetry and Travis Payne\u2019s choreographies. It\u2019s in 2019 that they return to tiohti\u00e0:ke mooniyaang to embrace their career as a freelance artist. Since then, they have become company member and associate director of LO FI DANCE THEORY alongside founder Wynn Holmes. Nicholas also takes part in projects with Le Fils d\u2019Adrien danse, Virginie Brunelle, Les 7 doigts de la main, Fleuve Espace Danse, Morgane Le Tiec, Nouveau Mouvement, and more recently with Andrea Pe\u00f1a & Artists.<\/p>\n

Wynn Holmes<\/strong> creates performances, recordings, and installations that explore the individual and collective power of bodies in motion. These works fuse dance, theatre, architecture, and music, and reflect on how movement, performance, and sound exist within complex systems and ecologies, urban planning, and pop-culture. Holmes\u2019 choreographic style\u00a0<\/span>fuses folk and street-dance structures, manipulated and abstracted through a contemporary lens by the performers she collaborates with.\u00a0Holmes is the director of Lo Fi Dance Theory, an organization comprised of a contemporary dance company, an international class series, and a research platform that unites dance artists and multidisciplinary collaborators with the public. Creating a community of exchange that fosters dance-centered experiences across all disciplines, cultures and communities in Canada and internationally, Lo Fi Dance Theory\u2019s projects, classes, community outreach, and educational activities aim to push the boundaries between the arts and humanities \u2013 and, between social phenomena and kinetic possibility.<\/p>\n
