How might tools of self care, personal meditation, and psychic choreographic systems support and prepare us for site based and\/or theatrical radical performance making? How does the teaching of theory promote new systems for intellectual simulation and understanding? <br><br>Centering an interdisciplinary approach to live performance making, this creative lab will consider how we as artist-citizens strengthen the mind and body to resist normalized structures of performance to release, activate, and translate unknown, foreign, and\/or vulnerable materials into live performance actions. Students will conduct research, view and critique live performance and create cosmologies of their creative influencers. Open to all students interested in exploring their previously uncharted performative potential.<br><br><strong>Participants are encouraged to bring:<\/strong><br>&#8211; Questions about their own work and practice that they are willing to unfold and share within a group environment<br>&#8211; Radical costumes that disguise their bodies<br>&#8211; One or more personal items they feel comfortable sharing and working with in public space<br><br><strong>BIO \/\/ Jaamil Olawale Kosoko<\/strong> is a Nigerian American performance artist, poet, and curator originally from Detroit, MI. His creative practice draws from Black study and queer theories of the body, weaving together visual performance, lecture, ritual, and spiritual practice. Recent awards include, but are not limited to: 2020 PEW Fellowship in the arts, 2020-21 Resident Artist at the Wexner Center for the Arts, 2019 NYSCA\/NYFA Artist Fellowship in Choreography, 2019 NPN Development Fund Award, 2019-21 Movement Research Artist in Residence, 2018-20 Live Feed Artist at New York Live Arts, 2017-19 Princeton Arts Fellow, 2019 Red Bull Writing Fellow, 2017 MAP Fund recipient, and a 2017 Cave Canem Poetry Fellow.<br>His works have toured internationally to South Africa, Europe, Canada, and throughout the US. He is the author of two chapbooks:&nbsp;<em>Animal in Cyberspace<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>Notes on An Urban Killfloor<\/em>. Season 1 of&nbsp;his interview-based podcast,&nbsp;<em>American Chameleon<\/em>&nbsp;can be found on all podcast platforms. Some require advanced dance training.
