Transformative Bodies\/Beings and the inherent relationship between space, time and place.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The workshop will gather us together in a process of intersubjective dialogue, exchange and physical practice. Our physical practice will be rooted in BodyWeather, working with the body as energetic potential within a sensory field. BodyWeather cultivates a conscious relation to states of change, porous and permeating. BodyWeather considers the body as a constantly changing environment within a greater environment. We will sharpen our senses to these finely tuned processes and cycles.<\/span><\/p>\n

We are our inheritance. We are our perspectives. We are our imagination. We are bearers of time and relationship. We come into being in the space between. We are because of each other. We will explore how these qualities arise in and around us, and how the body can be danced by them. Together we will enter a creative mist. Within that mist we will find thresholds of becoming, unbecoming, almost becoming and leaving. We will witness and keep watch. We will honour the different perspectives in the space, understanding that each position reveals the possibility of new knowledge. We will inhabit different perspectives at once. <\/span><\/p>\n

BodyWeather \u200b<\/b>is a broad-based training that proposes a practical strategy to the mind and to the body. It is not just for \u2018professional dancers\u2019 or \u2018performance<\/span> practitioners\u2019 alone but is an open investigation that can be relevant for anyone interested in exploring the body and physical presence.<\/span><\/p>\n

Victoria Hunt<\/b> is a Sydney-based director, dancer, choreographer and image maker. Her tribal affiliations are to Te Arawa, Rongowhakaata, Ng\u0101ti Kahungunu Maori, English, Finnish and Irish. Victoria is a founding member of De Quincey Co since 1999, performing in over 40 productions. She has toured with De Quincey Co, MAU, Legs On The Wall, Marrugeku and is co-curator of The Weather Exchange since 2007. Since 2003 Victoria has created performance work in collaboration with other interdisciplinary\/intercultural artists. Her major solo <\/span>Copper Promises: Hinemihi Haka<\/span><\/i> premiered at Performance Space in 2012, was nominated for a Helpmann Award for Best Female Performer in Dance and toured to the UK and Canada. Hunt\u2019s most recent work <\/span>Tangi Wai\u2026the cry of water <\/span><\/i>premiered at Performance Space, LIVEWORKS Festival, Carriageworks in 2015 and was nominated for Australian Dance Award, Helpmann Award and FBiSMAC award. Alongside her choreographic practice Victoria has taught extensively since 2001 and is currently supporting a number of emerging artists to develop their body-based hybrid performance practices. Victoria was awarded the Rex Cramphorn Theatre Fellowship from Arts NSW for 2016-17.<\/span><\/p>\n

All workshops are for professional performing artists. Some require advanced dance training.<\/b><\/p>\n
