Considered a pioneer of performance in Canada, Sylvie Tourangeau proposes this new workshop focusing on the personalisation of our performative actions in different contexts and intensities of attitude and presence. The focus will be put on the nature of our motivations in creating, the awareness of what inhabits and distinguishes us, the clarity of our on-the-spot decision-making as well as the transformative effect generated by our engagement with each of our gestures. Thanks to a learning process composed of practical exercises, role-playing, real experiences in urban space, \u201cpresentations\u201d following instructions, active commentary, the participants will be able to experiment with the full potential of their performative sense, regardless of the specific or habitual form their art takes. <\/span><\/p>\n Since 1978, artist, teacher, author, and curator <\/span>Sylvie Tourangeau<\/b> puts forward the process of transformation issuing from performative action. By way of minimal actions which enrich the quality of presence, support our connection with the world, and personify the link with the spectator, she is interested in the form of on-the-spot consciousness that is the performative. Performances, relational art, circumstantial rituals, and workshop teaching are practices in which she is fully invested. Since 1983, Sylvie offers performance training and she has also published artist books and nearly sixty articles about a vast array of performance artists. In 2017, with the TouVA collective (Sylvie Tourangeau, Victoria Stanton, Anne B\u00e9rub\u00e9) she published a bilingual work on the performative sense, <\/span>Le 7e Sens <\/span><\/i>(<\/span>the 7th Sense<\/span><\/i>). The collective also started hosting artist residencies at La maison aux volets jaunes, which is devoted to performance arts (workshops, self-directed residencies, coaching, and collective laboratories). <\/span><\/p>\n All workshops are for professional performing artists.
