These sessions will be space where I try to make an opening in myself to share current questions, concerns and interests through practice that is part of a project towards disentangling from assimilationist approaches.<\/span><\/p>\n

As a beginning, I will share some things that I do alone in rooms, to help ready myself for the space that I want.<\/span><\/p>\n

We will move from and through and with states of overwhelm. We will arrange our bodies in space\/time and allow for the energetic forms that emerge. We will spend time at\/tuning. We will work with the density of available sensory and remembered information\u2014our interior worlds stacked with living, subjective data\u2014that we will consider as tools for divination.<\/span><\/p>\n

The form of the practice might not present itself with linear coherence and how the sessions unfold will be directly in relation to the people who are present.<\/span><\/p>\n

Last Yearz Interesting Negro<\/strong> is the performance project of the London-based artist and dancer <\/span>Jamila Johnson-Small<\/b>.  A cumulative relational project that gathers and transmits information through working in various constellations to build spaces for dancing, performance, listening and conversation, spaces that might hold the multiple and contradictory, spaces that consider movement and transformation as inevitable.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n

All workshops are for professional performing artists. Some require advanced dance training.<\/b><\/p>\n
