Who says that artistic rigour has to be so serious? In the practice party, we will reframe potentially challenging situations as joyful experiences in an effort to see new potentialities in the physical body. We will confront our personal expectations of work and performance, finding pleasure in labour, criticality and feedback. We will dance, think and sweat together. Each day will offer experiences aimed at creating the context for fresh creative tools and strategies to emerge. We will party by practising with each other, and we will cultivate the practice of partying with each other. Everyone is invited to this nightclub \/ carnival \/ potluck of art-making. Check your assumptions at the door!<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2005 <\/span>Andrew<\/b> cofounded (with collaborator Sasha Kleinplatz) the company Wants&Needs dance.\u00a0 Since then the company has produced the wildly popular dance events Piss in the Pool, Short&Sweet and Involved in Montreal. Andrew was awarded the <\/span>Dance WEB<\/span><\/i> scholarship in May 2012\u00a0 (Impulstanz Festival-Vienna). In 2013 he participated in the “Rencontres internationales de jeunes cr\u00e9ateurs et critiques des arts de la sc\u00e8ne professionnels” (Festival TransAm\u00e9riques -Montreal). He was also selected to participate in “8 Days”, an Intergenerational meeting of dance artists from across Canada organized by the company Public Recordings. He also took part in the “Copycat Academy” (Luminato Festival- Toronto) organized by Hannah Hurtzig (Berlin). He is the recipient of the Risk & Innovation Award from the 2016 Summerworks Performance Festival for his <\/span>Fame Praver \/ Eating<\/span><\/i>. In January 2017, he was named guest curator at Montreal\u2019s Centre de Cr\u00e9ation O Vertigo<\/span>.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n

All workshops are for professional performing artists. Some require advanced dance training.<\/b><\/p>\n
