The workshop is guided by wâhkôhtowin (ethical relations), miskâsowin (belonging), and wîyâtikwêwin (joy as wholeness). We will explore how we belong through creative practice and how to sustain relationships beyond the traditional residency model. Participants will exchange knowledge and share skills for building collaborative frameworks that centre 2Spirit / Indigiqueer needs. Our goal is to leave with a strengthened network of kin, a sense of collective purpose, and concrete insights into how we can support 2Spirit artist communities to thrive. Together, we will move from identifying systemic gaps to dreaming up speculative spaces for creative relating and future collaborations.
This gathering is a relational, informal afternoon centered around a shared “small feast.” We will move through introductions and heart-centered conversations using guided exploration to map out Indigiqueer creative futures. The session blends collective dreaming with practical dialogue, potentially incorporating elements of writing or creating together to anchor our insights. The focus is on the “how” of being together, using honest exchange and deep listening to identify institutional gaps. We aim to explore how new collaborative models can take root through this blend of storytelling, reflection, and the organic flow of knowledge-sharing.
tastawayihk* (2Spirit) constellations, co-led by 2Spirit Michif artists Moe Clark (mentor) and Maddison Schmitt (mentee), is a collaborative research and design mentorship, focusing on the revitalization of creative residency and facilitation opportunities for and by Indigiqueer artists. Guided by principles of wâhkôhtowin (ethical relations and extended kinship), miskâsowin (belonging in the circle), and wîyâtikwêwin (Indigiqueer joy as an expression of wholeness), tastawayihk 2S constellations works towards creative residency, programming and facilitation models that centre land-based methodologies, collaborative hybrid learning environments, and engage culturally specific and intergenerational Indigiqueer artists and art practices. Emphasizing interdisciplinary 2Spirit / Indigiqueer artists living and creating in Tiohtià:ke (Montréal) and across Turtle Island (Canada / North America), our project explores how creative arts facilitation and programming can serve as continuums for 2Spirit embodied healing, collective creation, mentorship, and professional development.
