ANIMALESQUE is a dance training class based on floor work inspired by animal coordination, focusing on the following four themes: hip and shoulder mobility, spinal articulation, explosiveness vs. control, and strengthening the wrists and ankles. In order to develop and solidify a basic acrobatic vocabulary often used in contemporary dance, participants are encouraged to play with resistance, fluidity, strength, endurance, and mobility.
The structure of the class allows participants of all backgrounds and levels to enrich their dance and feed their imagination, while developing their physical abilities at a pace that suits them. After a dynamic warm-up and a few conditioning exercises, we will dive into animalistic sequences and improvisations.
Content
We will play with movements such as shoulder and back rolls, body weight in the arms (handstands, four-legged positions), transitioning from the floor to standing… The class is ideal for participants who want to learn the basics of floor work or take it to another level while working on their cardio and muscular endurance. Several options will be offered for different levels and degrees of intensity. Moderate to intense physical effort.
