DETAILS OF THE PROJECT
Birthsong is an original new musical developed by Andrew Sawyer. It is based on his experiences meeting his biological parents for the first time at the age of 25. It mixes verbatim text from that trip as well as the stories he learned from his parents about their time getting pregnant in high school.

It is a story about homecoming, intergenerational trauma, nature and nurture, as well as the power of mythmaking and dreams. It was originally developed as part of the Nested Circles writing program at Imago Theatre.
