CONTENT // This class series assembles dance artists who have shared interests in bodywork, somatics and anatomy and what they infer for human movement and dancing.  Bringing practices in contemporary dance, osteopathy, thai massage and the axis syllabus into dialogue, each teacher will riff-off of each other while bringing in their unique training and expertise. You may expect some body talk, some soft sensing while slipping into dancing with improvisation and short looped phrases. As movement activists these classes prioritize an occasion for participants to explore movement and experience dancing!

BIOS // This assembly of facilitators is an initiative of reputed teacher Kelly Keenan that invites 3 former students whom have become dancing peers and colleagues. Kelly teaches pre-professionals at Concordia and UQAM dance departments, as well as for professionals at dance institutions offering training for dancers in Montreal and abroad. Kelly continues to dance for independent choreographers and is pursuing an MA in Concordia University’s Individualized program at the hinge of dance studies, art education and sensory anthropology. She also has a history of organizing events around practice exchange like this class series, such as the North American Nomadic College, Montreal’s Movement Educator’s Forum, and a Dance and/or Somatic series at Studio 303.

Since beginning to train with Kelly, Rebecca, Mathilde and Kerwin have each launched into their personal interests and complementary practices which have interesting parallels and differences. Rebecca Rehder is nearly finished her studies at Collège d’études ostéopathiques. Mathilde Loslier-Pellerin is now a thai massage practitioner while pursuing an MFA at UQAM in feminist somatic work. Kerwin Barrington, who has been teaching dance for over 10 years, is currently in the Axis Syllabus teacher certification program and also in pursuit of MFA at UQAM.  This series brings us together to creatively apply our specific trainings to dance and put the practices in dialogue with each other.

Evening classes are open to all levels, and it’s always possible to drop-in without registering in advance.

Registration is on site directly with the teachers, please contact them if you need additional information.
