CONTENT

The Movement RDVs are somatic-informed dance classes that evolve as a themed cycle progression for movers from all levels and backgrounds.
Classes start with smooth guided somatic warm-ups based on functional anatomy or metaphoric imagery that nurture proprioceptive kinetic awareness and open up the space for improvised creative explorations.
We then embark on a dynamic flow, in and out of the floor, where the whole body becomes a fleeting intelligent surface of support, moving in a 3D spatial awareness with momentum, ease, and efficiency.
The classes are conceived as continuously progressive but drop-ins are also welcome.

ACCESSIBILITY

The workshop includes improvisation work, as well as a guided technique section including jumps, floor work, and exercises that may include touching between dance partners to support awareness and learning. This workshop is open to practitioners of all levels and movement cultures, with variations in difficulty to suit different levels. It is advisable to take the whole course to support the group’s spirit of trust, but any other participation per course is welcome.

BIOGRAPHY

Corinne Skaff is a Lebanese dance artist, pedagogue based in Montreal, currently pursuing her Masters in Dance and Somatic Education.

She approaches dance as a vital practice of self-embodiment rather than an entertainment proposition. In constant search for dances that make sense in the cultural and personal context, her movement and teaching practices are inspired by Contact Improvisation, contemporary movement, physical theater, dance science and ecosomatic principles. As a pedagogue, she is inspired by the state of continuous learning through play and ephemerality. She is interested in the strategies and politics of transmission, as well as the creation of community bonds through movement practices.
