PROJECT // Retraced

The Retraced duet consists of creating a piece that seeks to bring us (the performers) to explore the essence of Krump by delving into its most complex and minute components and then growing towards its most extrapolated form. After 16 years of practice, 7Starr seeks to continue his personal development through this duet with the participation of Mathilde Mercier-Beloin.

With a very anatomical approach to dance, 7Starr continues his obsession with revisiting, observing and rediscovering his journey in the Krump form by analyzing it with a scientific ey

 

 




BIO // Vladimir “7Starr” Laurore is a pioneer of the Canadian Krump scene. In 2005, he co-founded the first Krump troupe in Canada, Bzerk Squad. 7Starr is also the creator of Gutta Zone Fest, the first and largest Krump festival in the country. He is currently the president of Montreal Krump Alliance, a non-profit organization that specializes in promoting Krump culture across Canada. In 2017, he received the Victor Martyn Lynch Staunton Award from the Canada Council for the Arts for outstanding artistic achievement by Canadian artists. In 2020, he won the ”Discovery of the Year” award from the Prix de la danse de Montréal for his solo performance in Anima/Darkroom.
