ONLINE: LA NAB (MTL) — Bend before you act – Clowning Workshop

June 1-5, 2020– 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. (Mon.-Fri.)
$30 for the week, must be eligible for the *Emploi-Québec support
Open to artists of all disciplines / In French
Capacity: 12 people

Given the current circumstances, we’ve decided to move this workshop online! Let’s connect in a new way, and continue supporting each other from afar.

Please plan to have clothing that allows for movement, a water bottle, as much clear space as possible (Whether a bedroom or kitchen, it will all be a part of the experience!), a steady internet connection.

What can we do with all the emotion we have? How to value the full range of emotions, without categorizing as positive/negative, stimulation/brake, accepted/repressed? This course offers itself as an opportunity to re-enchant, invigorating delirium. Let us give ourselves the right to have 3 years of mental age, or 13, or 160. Let our faults blossom, our preliminary states, our overflow. Let us give ourselves the right to be stupid, to be ridiculous, naive to wish, if not noisy and shaky. To bend is a work of art.

La Nab‘s pedagogy is anchored in a festive and warm spirit. She perceives clowning art as a garden from which to draw joy and embrace excess. Her approach prioritizes: the poetic dimension, the troubadour desire and the revived childhood. Inspirations: Lior Shoov (ex-clowne turned woman-orchestra-fragile), Gardi Hutter (Swiss clowne), Sol (the soliloque), Zouc (woman-theatrical phenomenon). She is also very interested in the work of Jacques Lecoq and Marc Doré.
