The dramaturgical reading circle will address various texts, whether directly related to dramaturgy or not, but always seeking dramaturgical material through shared reading and critical discussion. What can we learn from texts that translate into practice? What can emerge from practice and be transmitted? What are our tools in dramaturgy?

The text discussed at the first meeting on April 8th is included in this mailing: “Utopian Contract – Partage horizontal », a very interesting conversation between Moriah Evans and Alice Chauchat.

Alexandra completed a master’s degree in comparative literature, worked in museology, and has done cultural journalism (dance, theater, performing arts), as well as linguistic revision. She practices dance and presented the shows Gravier (ou lieu de choses graves) at the Montreal Fringe in 1999 and Cycle délicat in 2004. She also worked on the movement for the show Deux voix, based on the poetry of Geneviève Amyot, with Rhizome (Québec), in 2005. She also collaborated on the catalog Alain-Martin Richard, Performances, Manoeuvres and Other Hypotheses for Diseappearing (2014).

A dance artist and dramaturg, Katya creates and collaborates on “unidentified dancing objects.” In situ and participatory works, undisciplinary seminars and performative banquets, her approach engages in a practice of invitation and dialogue through the bringing into play of a diversity of bodies and voices (Pluton and ATTABLER with La 2e Porte à Gauche, Spoon with Nicolas Cantin, Nous (ne) sommes (pas) tous des danseurs with Sophie Corriveau, Sacrer with seven street dancers, La Pieuvre…). Dramaturg in residence at the La Poêle studio from 2023 to 2025, she also writes on dance (De la glorieuse fragilité: l’Abécédaire; Tribunes sur la danse; Curieux manuel de dramaturgie pour le théâtre, la danse et autres matières à changement…).
