CONTENT // In this class we will dig into dancing by cultivating our intuition, and our attention to our internal and external environment. We will work with movement and writing to practice expanded tools for touching and being touched at a distance. We will open ourselves to energetic and physiological sensations in our own bodies and practice empathic connection with the other. We will develop tools for relating to space and time, to our dance partners and to our witnesses. We will dance from joyful chaos and also practice compositional tools in relation to language, sound, image, texture, rhythm, and task. We will enjoy poetic resonances and energy work. We will playfully practice proprioceptive skills to support our journeys. We will sweat, contemplate, and trip out.

BIO // Lara, based in Montreal, approaches dance and choreography as a felt, multi-sensory experience. She is curious about internal and external spaces and the passage between them, fascinated by transformation and magic. Lara has presented her choreographic work officially and unofficially at Theatre La Chapelle, the Darling Foundry, Tangente’s, and OFFTA. She has collaborated in various constellations with Louise Michel Jackson, Justin de Luna, Maria Kefirova, Chloë Lum / Yannick Desranleau, Hanna Sybille Müller, Erin Robinsong and Nien Tzu Weng. Lara was resident artist at the Third Floor Projects at Usine C from 2019-2020. She has a BA in Film Studies from McGill University, and followed self-guided training in choreography, contemporary dance, and somatic practices in Berlin, Stockholm and Montreal.
