Kris Grey and Rajni Shah

ROPEWALK @ VIVA! Art Action

Friday, September 27th, 2019 at 8 p.m.
@ Ateliers Jean Brilliant (3520 St Jacques)

Studio 303 is presenting Ropewalk, a collaboration between Rajni Shah,  Kris Grey, and Fili at the 7th edition of VIVA! Art Action (September 25th to 28th, 2019), a biennial festival which provides an accessible and convivial context to encounter performance art in its most striking and avant-garde forms.

Rajni and Kris are two amazing artists who, over many years of long-distance friendship, have slowly unfolded conversations about gender identity, outsiderness, and community building while living on different continents. Rajni and Kris identify as: trans, gender-queer, of colour, Indian, outside, held, mentor, gentle, confused, unprepared, ready, strong…

Rajni Shah’s work as an artist leans gently but clearly across disciplines, countries, and thought structures. Since 1999, they have made performances, writings, and other gatherings, all of which open up spaces for conversation and meeting across difference.

Kris Grey/Justin Credible is a gender queer artist whose work combines strategies of communication, activism, community building, education, lecture, and studio production.

In addition to their performance, Rajni Shah and Kris Grey will be teaching their workshop Undoing ourselves at Studio 303 on September 21st and 22nd!
